BALTIMORE, Md. - Former Morgan State basketball student-athlete Aric Brooks has been awarded the Degree Completion Award by the NCAA and now has the opportunity to complete his undergraduate degree.
The NCAA Division I Degree-Completion Award Program was established in 1989 to assist student-athletes who could not complete their education during their five-year eligibility period. To be eligible to apply for this program, a student-athlete must have competed at a Division I institution, have received athletics-related aid, and be within 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of completion of his or her degree.
“I’m happy and grateful for the NCAA paying for my education,” said Brooks. “The goal now is to graduate, walk across the stage and pursue a professional career in basketball.”
Brooks is majoring in Telecommunications and plans on graduating in December and will participate in MSU’s graduation ceremony in May of 2013.
