NEW YORK  – Alyssa Thomas of the Maryland women’s basketball team is one of 12 of the nation’s top prospects to be invited to attend the WNBA Draft at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. Monday.  Live coverage of the first round will begin on ESPN2 at 8 p.m. ET. Coverage of the second and third rounds will be televised on ESPNU from 9-10:30 p.m.

Thomas will be joined by Odyssey Sims (Baylor), Chiney Ogwumike (Stanford), Stefanie Dolson (Connecticut), Bria Hartley (Connecticut), Kayle McBride (Notre Dame), Natalie Achonwa (Notre Dame), Chelsea Gray (Duke), Shoni Schimmel (Louisville), Meighan Simmons (Tennessee), Natasha Howard (Florida State) and Markeisha Gatling (North Carolina State) as those invited to attend.

Thomas is the third Terrapin in three years to be invited to the draft, following Tianna Hawkins last year and Lynetta Kizer in 2012. Thomas was named a WBCA All-American, a First Team All-American by the Associated Press and a USBWA All-American last week after leading the Terrapins (28-7) to their fourth Final Four.

She was named ACC Player of the Year for the third consecutive year by the Blue Ribbon Panel last month. Thomas is just the second player in history to earn the ACC’s top individual honor three times.

Thomas led the Terrapins in scoring with 19.0 points per game and in rebounding with 10.9 rebounds per game. In the NCAA First Round, she passed Juan Dixon as Maryland’s all-time leading scorer. She ended her career with 2,356 career points and as the school’s leading rebounder with 1,235 career rebounds.

Thomas led the ACC with 28 double-doubles in 35 games played this year and leads the nation with four triple-doubles. She is one of just three players in NCAA history with six or more triple-doubles in her career.
