Friday Morning’s Crabs and Beer

September 18, 2009 | Glenn Clark

Here are your weekend picks:

Chargers 23, Ravens 20 (OT)

This is my fancy way of saying that I think this game is a COMPLETE toss-up. I’m picking overtime, and I’m giving the home team the AUTOMATIC 3 points. I wouldn’t bet this game if you begged me to. Of course, I don’t bet on football (really), so I’m probably not the guy whose opinion matters. These are two good football teams. San Diego has the advantage because the Ravens are going to the other side of the country. That’s all.

Maryland 31, Middle Tennessee State 20

Losing Phillip Tanner will hurt the Blue Raiders, who I think would have been a MUCH more legitimate upset candidate with their starting RB. They’ll still give the Terps a mighty scare, but Maryland won’t fall at home.

Coastal Carolina 31, Towson 17

This will be a more competitive game than the score indicates, but the Chanticleers are better than Rob Ambrose’s Tigers right now.

Pitt 38, Navy 27

Navy is better than they were last year. Pitt isn’t as good as they were last year. But this game is still at Heinz Field, and the Panthers will get the home win.

Let’s see what everyone else has to say…..
