It’s time to show some appreciation in this week’s #WNSTSweet16

11. Laron Profit

One of the top 15 scorers in school history and a tremendous outside shooter who never seemed to fully get his due. Another three year starter (all NCAA Tournament teams) who had a flare for the dramatic and ranks third in school history in steals.

Somehow Profit’s game winning shot against Wake Forest is not recorded on the internet for posterity. Can someone find it for me? It was one of my favorite moments in Maryland basketball history. It was a noteworthy moment.

UPDATE:  Thanks to Luke Jones, video has been unearthed!

looking at all of these old videos, i keep thinking one the thing: God i miss Gary Williams

Great list. I still say Steve Blake is underrated though. He was always overshadowed by Dixon but really was the glue of the team for his 4 years. I will never forget the steal he had on Jason (Jay) Williams as Williams was getting instructions from Coach K and never saw Blake coming. Also who knew he would go on to have a 10+ year NBA Career and counting? I dont think anyone ever predicted that at the time he was drafted. As you can tell he was probably my All time favorite terp.

agree with the Steve Sheppard suggestion…did you consider Herman Veal?
