Josh Bynes’ practice squad promotion appears to be writing on wall that Lewis won’t play

November 23, 2011 | WNST Staff

The Ravens signed rookie LB Josh Bynes from their practice squad to the 53-man roster Wednesday afternoon.

To make room for the move, Baltimore waived G/C Bryan Mattison.

Bynes originally signed with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of Auburn this past July. During his collegiate career, he appeared in 43 games, recording 238 tackles (127 solo), seven interceptions, 19 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

Following training camp, Bynes was waived on Sept. 3 and then later signed to the Ravens’ practice squad on Nov. 9.

This move would appear to be the Ravens’ answer for not having linebacker Ray Lewis in the lineup Thursday against the 49ers, and Bynes will provide depth behind the upgraded Jameel McClain and Dannell Ellerbe.

The Ravens need to look at the future without Ray he is a great Linebacker but he won’t be around for ever and they will miss him in the middle when he decidss to hang em up……….also he would make agreat defense coach if he wants to go that route.

  4. Kevin Says:

Love to see Ray and Ravens get to and then win the Super Bowl before Ray retires.
