Maryland women face Top 10 showdown with Notre Dame Monday night

COLLEGE PARK, Md. –  The sixth-ranked Maryland women’s basketball team will host No. 2 Notre Dame Monday at 7 p.m. in a nationally-televised contest on ESPN2 as part of ESPN’s Big Monday.

Preseason ACC Player of the Year Alyssa Thomas picked up her 16th double-double of the year in the Terps’ 18 games Thursday at Virginia and Alicia DeVaughn added 14 points, 12 in the second half.

Thomas entered Thursday’s game with 1,993 career points. She hit the 2,000 mark with a midrange jumper with 4:18 left in the first that gave Maryland a four-point lead. Just three other Terrapins have hit the 2,000 point mark – Kristi Toliver (2,078), Marissa Coleman (2,205) and Crystal Langhorne (2,247).

The Terrapins are ranked No. 6 in the latest Associated Press and in the USA Today Coaches polls.

After Monday’s top 10 matchup, the Terrapins will head to Raleigh to take on No. 23 North Carolina State Thursday at 7 p.m. in a matchup shown on ESPN3 and the Watch ESPN app.
