And if Troy Smith has been as awful as Mike Preston says he has been-maybe I start to wonder more and more why the Steelers were able to sign Byron Leftwich; Daunte Culpepper is a free agent, and the Ravens have stuck with the same three guys who have never accomplished anything.
Just thoughts. Let’s see what everyone else has to say…

SOME QUICK THOUGHTS:
-Dennis Sarfate-whether he goes 5 innings or not-should not make another start. Sarfate just didn’t have the stuff to start to begin with. Preferably; Hayden Penn will make the next start in Sarfate’s spot; and Brad Bergensen will get the chance if Chris Waters continues to struggle (which I think is likely). Sarfate has a role on this team; and he should take the time to work hard on throwing strikes and overpowering hitters.
-Welcome Ryan Schlieper. The Terps have had some good Lineman in the last few years; and we hope you can join them.
-I took a peak at the Olympic relay again this morning; and I actually got more chills watching it this time than I did last night. Maybe it won’t be remembered as much as Kerri Strug’s vault; but it was a pretty significant moment. As Americans; we love individual accomplishments; but I think it might actually mean more when you see a group of individuals achieve something together. That was pretty special what they did last night; and it was pretty cool to watch Michael Phelps’ reaction.
-As I mentioned this morning on the show, I had the chance to go out to the Virgin Music Festival yesterday; and while the music itself was okay; the event was really well done. (Stone Temple Pilots were amazing by the way; but Bob Dylan’s keyboards just don’t work in front of a rock festival; and I just couldn’t get into Lil’ Wayne or Iggy Pop).
Walking around Pimlico, I got the idea that the facility could be used in more ways to help the horse racing industry make money. I thought about ideas like…..
-Professional Lacrosse? Could the Bayhawks have played on a makeshift field at Pimlico?
-A Summer concert series?
-Fairgrounds-type conventions. Tents could be used prominently on the infield for events that may have otherwise been held at the State Fairgrounds.
I’m not saying that any of these are answers to Horse Racing’s problem; but if a major national event that is as prominent as the Virgin Music Festival continues to return to Pimlico every year for successful events; you would think that the facility could be used for other events to keep the facility in use during the summer.
Talk to you tomorrow.
