Monday Morning’s Crabs and Beer

November 24, 2008 | Glenn Clark

It doesn’t bother me that everyone in the media is talking about McNabb, Reid, and the Eagles more than they are the Ravens. Frankly; the Ravens weren’t the story yesterday. But I don’t think the Ravens won BECAUSE of Andy Reid’s decision to bench Donovan McNabb.

Frankly, the Ravens had terrorized McNabb in the first half; forcing 2 INT’s and a fumble that Jarrett Johnson picked out of the air.

The reason the game was close was because the Ravens offense hadn’t gotten things going. A QB switch doesn’t change that.

In fact, the Eagles made some adjustments offensively in the 2nd half; and Kevin Kolb was actually able to put together a nice drive…….until Ed Reed stepped in.

This game was won the way the Ravens SHOULD win games. Flacco wasn’t asked to “manage” a football game, he was given chances to win it. The defense was as outstanding as we should expect; and the running game wore the Eagles’ defense down late.

Andy Reid’s QB decision was NOT the difference in the game. But if I’m an Eagles fan; I’d rather have McNabb at the helm for a desperate playoff push.

Let’s see what everyone else has to say…..

If that happens; Maryland will be 8-4 with 5 wins over Top 25 teams. Do YOU think that type of team would be playing in Boise? SOME QUICK THOUGHTS:-Congratulations to SunTrust Athlete of the Morning Darian Conners of Eastern Tech; who tallied 4 TD’s to beat Edmondson and advance to the state semifinals.

-Convincing Maryland that they have something to play for will NOT be easy this week. This one will be on the Maryland players; who will have one more chance to make a statement. I’m not sure it will matter much.

-Towson 83, NJIT 68. Loyola 75, JMU 71. But what do I know?

Talk to you tomorrow.
