The Orioles didn’t waste any more time Friday with a big series in the AL East coming up against the Boston Red Sox, as the Orioles decided to that they could not have a valuable roster spot in limbo.

Outfielder Nolan Reimold-who has been battling neck and back spasms and left the team in New York during their series with the Yankees to get evaluated-was placed on the DL Friday afternoon with catcher Luis Exposito.

The move is retroactive to Monday, when Reimold last took the field.

Exposito was claimed off waivers from the Red Sox by the Orioles earlier in the season. His abilities may allow both Ronny Paulino and Matt Wieters in the lineup.

Wilson Betemit will bat sixth in batting order tonight against Jon Lester and play Reimold’s left field spot.
