Ravens promote offensive tackle D.J. Jones to active roster

To improve depth on their offensive line, the Ravens have promoted tackle D.J. Jones to the active roster to take the spot of return specialist David Reed, who was placed on injured reserve after suffering an ACL tear in the win over Cleveland last Saturday.

A 6-foot-5 rookie, Jones was signed to the practice squad on Oct. 19 and spent his collegiate career at the University of Nebraska. He began the season on Miami’s practice squad before he was waived in mid-October. The Ravens’ offensive line is currently banged up with right guard Marshal Yanda dealing with rib and thigh contusions.

To take Jones’ place on the practice squad, the Ravens have signed wide receiver Patrick Williams, who was most recently on the practice squad of the Seattle Seahawks and is in his second pro season out of Colorado.

A native of Omaha, Neb., Jones went undrafted despite having started every game of his senior season at right tackle for the Cornhuskers.
