University of Maryland Defensive Coordinator Brian Stewart agreed to a multi-year extension to stay in College Park Tuesday according to reports from the Baltimore Sun and Washington Post.

Stewart has served in the role for the last two seasons under Head Coach Randy Edsall, making great progress in 2013 despite injuries. The Terrapins finished 44th in the country in total defense despite losing starting cornerbacks Jeremiah Johnson and Dexter McDougle and pass rusher Yannick Cudjoe-Virgil to season ending injuries.

Terps Offensive Coordinator Mike Locksley remains under contract through 2015. Maryland lost Defensive Line coach Greg Gattuso this offseason (he accepted the head coaching job at Albany) as well as Receivers coach Lee Hull and Offensive Line coach Tom Brattan.
