Ravens-Chargers “Disappointment Bowl” today. Terps will go bowling after win at NC State. UMBC Basketball records one of the biggest wins in program history.
I don’t know many more ways to say the same thing about the Ravens. Having Samari Rolle back is another nice thing, but this has become bigger than the personnel on the field (plus, Todd Heap isn’t playing again anyway). This team has little to play for, and wasn’t a good team when they had something to play for. They’re going to sneak into a couple of wins down the stretch; but even the St. Louis Rams have won two straight.
The Chargers are just as bad as the Ravens; but they actually have something to play for. They are in a bad AFC West, and they have no reason to think they can’t win that bad division. I expect the Chargers to play a much more inspired game today, and I expect they’ll win, 27-23 in what will actually be a very entertaining game.

SOME QUICK THOUGHTS:
-MAJOR kudos to Ralph Friedgen and the Maryland Terrapins for keeping it together and getting bowl eligible at 6-6. It has been FAR from a perfect year, but with everything this team has had to overcome, they should be EXTREMELY proud to finish at .500. It doesn’t matter if this team goes to Boise or San Francisco, the extra month of practice and extra game will seriously help this team.
The ONLY negative that can even be mentioned in all of this is the fact that the Terps looked SO good today, you can only wonder if there was another team that showed up in the 2nd half of games against Virginia and Wake Forest; as well as the entire North Carolina game. This team could have EASILY been 9-3, and might have had an opportunity to play for an ACC title.
-I know that Maureece Rice was out for GW, but MAJOR kudos also go to Randy Monroe and UMBC for a HUGE win over the Colonials. I knew that Towson, Loyola, and Morgan all had the right leadership, but this is MAJOR proof that the Retrievers are going the right way.
-Is there anything about the Baltimore Mariners that will get you more excited than you were against the Baltimore Blackbirds? Me neither. The city deserves an AFL team Ed Hale. Go get one.
Talk to you tomorrow.
-G
