A couple of notes from last night’s Maryland loss that I didn’t squeeze into my live blog….
One-I remember Gary discussing after the Morgan game that the team wouldn’t talk about the loss anymore. I can’t help but wonder if the Terps should have spent EVERY practice discussing that very loss; breaking down what they SHOULD have done in a late situation with a big lead; how to avoid getting “happy” as Gary likes to say. Maybe the Terps should have been thinking about that collapse in EVERY practice; just to know how to never let something like that happen again.
Two-For those that are firing up the “Fire Gary” bandwagon (Hi Ken Zalis!); don’t get too excited. Gary cannot be fired until he accepts that it might be time for him to go. Gary is MUCH too valuable to the university as a fundraiser for them to just blindly cast him aside. If someone like Anthony Grant were to be hired as head coach; he would need the help of a Gary Williams to raise money. This is not as simple as the Ravens situation last season; as the Head Basketball Coach at Maryland is responsible for funding an entire athletic department; not just winning on the court.
Let’s see what everyone else has to say….

SOME QUICK THOUGHTS:
-Congratulations to SunTrust Athlete of the Morning Shelby Polk; who scored 19 points last night for Catonsville as they knocked off Kenwood 61-30. She was enjoying two extra hours of sleep this morning because-I guess it was cold outside-and she woke up to check in with us. Thanks to Coach Mike from Catonsville for the nomination and getting her on the air.
-Welcome Koji Uehara. Hope you can pitch.
Talk to you tomorrow.
-G
