Tuesday Morning’s Crabs and Beer

February 03, 2009 | Glenn Clark

Debbie Yow ABSOLUTELY did the right thing yesterday by meeting with the media and making a statement. As I’ve said before, there was NEVER a thought process within the athletic department that Gary Williams was on a “hot seat” or could be possibly fired; and Debbie needed to make that clear for everyone outside the department.Being combative towards Gary regarding recruiting serves no purpose but to cause trouble. Debbie is doing the right thing again by saying that she will offer additional assistance to Gary in recruiting. Gary likely doesn’t want much more help from Debbie on the recruiting trail; but does need the entire University to help in the job of getting kids to commit to Maryland. If Gary wants Lance Stephenson to play here (which might very well be a long shot); he has to have everyone in College Park behind him in the process.

Let’s see what everyone else has to say…..

SOME QUICK THOUGHTS:-Ty Wigginton would be a nice piece to a puzzle that was already just about put together. In Baltimore; he’ll be one more on a team full of spare parts.

-Congratulations to SunTrust Athlete of the Morning Colby Giacubeno; who scored 18 points for the mighty Perry Hall Gators last night as they defeated Hereford 57-40.

Talk to you tonight with a Maryland-Carolina live blog.
