I do NOT think Cal Ripken used steroids.
That being said; it is ABSOLUTELY the fault of Major League Baseball that we are even in this position. They dug their grave. They turned their heads on an issue. Baseball apologists stood by them while they pretended like nothing was going on.
Now, our heroes like Cal Ripken have to hear things like this during trying times.
We’ll hear things like “You know, Cal was the person Alex Rodriguez looked up to; maybe he learned something from him.” We’ll hear things like “Cal had injury problems in 2000-2001; why wouldn’t he use steroids to try to bounce back quickly.”
It’s not Cal’s fault that we’re hearing these things. It is ABSOLUTELY Major League Baseball’s fault. And for me; it only leads me to do the same thing I’ve been doing for the last 10 years……..falling more and more out of love with baseball.
I’ll watch more European soccer this summer like I did last year. I’ll watch more UFC fights this summer. I’ll watch more tennis; and maybe even some golf this summer. Unfortunately there won’t be any Olympics or Arena Football to watch; but there will be something.
This is what baseball has done. And guys like Cal Ripken don’t deserve it.
Let’s see what everyone else has to say……..
