Wednesday Morning’s Crabs and Beer

August 20, 2008 | Glenn Clark

Fair or not, if the Orioles try to trade George Sherrill in the offseason, his trade value has just decreased. This is part of the reason why I thought the Birds were taking a risk by not moving Sherrill at the deadline. I really never thought his value would be as high as it was at the time. Maybe I’ll still be wrong, but it really seemed like coming off the All-Star Game, the Birds had the best chance to get someone to swap an ‘A’ prospect or combination of prospects for Sherrill. Even a little shoulder inflammation will cloud what the Birds can get in exchange for him.

However, it is good to hear Chris Ray is progressing. Maybe the Birds should give Dennis Sarfate a look at closer while Sherrill is out.

Let’s see what everyone else has to say….
