The Ravens absolutely COULD not allow Terrell Suggs to hit the open market.
Unlike Ray Lewis; who MIGHT find out that the market for an aging LB isn’t quite as deep as he would like it to be; teams would line up for DAYS for the chance to sign Suggs. If he hit the market; he’d be gone.
The Ravens should still work to sign Suggs to an extension; as they have clearly made him the cornerstone of their defense. They can’t play this game with Suggs year after year; they have to get this locked up. But part of that responsibility also falls on Gary Wichard and Suggs himself to stay true to his word in being willing to take a “hometown discount.”
Let’s see what everyone else has to say….

SOME QUICK THOUGHTS:
-Congratulations to SunTrust Athlete of the Morning Damon Lee. Damon scored 26 for Calvert Hall last night in their 73-52 win over Towson Catholic in the MIAA “A” Conference semifinals.
-Everything that the World Baseball Classic SHOULD be is taken away by the timing of the event. If Jeremy Guthrie were throwing in late October; I’d feel much better if I were Andy MacPhail or Dave Trembley. I know Davey Johnson will be limiting Guthrie’s innings/pitches; but just like with Sherrill in last year’s All-Star Game; I don’t know that I’m comfortable with a pitcher being used by anyone other than the organization this close to Opening Day.
-Towson 66, William & Mary 62. I have no real REASON to think Towson will win tonight; but hopefully being at home will help.
Talk to you tomorrow.
-G
