Good move for both parties. Braxton can likely survive on size alone in the CAA; and the Tigers can certainly use another big body. Here’s the official release from Towson….

TOWSON, Md. – Braxton Dupree, a former All-Metro and All-Conference center from Calvert Hall who was rated the 90th overall prospect coming out of high school in 2007, is transferring to Towson, Tigers’ head coach Pat Kennedy announced today.
The 6-8, 260 pound center is transferring from Maryland where he played as a freshman and sophomore, appearing in 52 games with 14 starts.
“I enjoyed my time at the University of Maryland and appreciate all of the efforts by Coach (Gary) Williams and his staff,” Dupree said. “However, I felt it was time for me to make a change. I am extremely excited about the opportunity to play at Towson University and for Coach Kennedy. Additionally, this decision allows me the chance to be even closer to my family.”
Braxton averaged 21.0 points, 13.1 rebounds and 5.0 blocked shots at Calvert Hall in his senior year when he earned first team All-MIAA Conference honors. The Baltimore native was ranked the 15th best center in the nation by
“I think Braxton has made an excellent transfer choice in Towson,” said Cardinal coach Mark Amatucci. “The Colonial Athletic Association is a very strong conference and Coach Kennedy is building an excellent program. Braxton will get a terrific opportunity to continue his development and realize his tremendous potential.”
Braxton joins a strong incoming Towson class that includes 6-7 forward Isaiah Philmore (Fr., John Carroll School/Bel Air, Md.), 6-9 forward Erique Gumbs (Fr., Caravel Academy/Bear, Del.), 6-4 guard Will Adams (Fr., Imhopten Charter/Philadelphia, Pa.) and 6-2 guard RaShawn Polk (So., Dudley High School/Greensboro, N.C.).
“We’re very excited about the addition of Braxton to our program,” said Kennedy. “He played in an outstanding high school program. He comes from a great family. He has an opportunity to be a real impact player in the CAA.”
