Eight Towson football players graduate during postseason run

Tigers Have Own Ceremony Because of FCS Semi-Final Trip To Eastern Washington

TOWSON, Md. – Eight graduating members of the Towson University football team received their degrees in a special ceremony at SECU Arena on Wednesday evening.

The special ceremony was held because the Tiger players will miss the University’s mid-year graduation this weekend because the Tiger football team will be on the road, playing Eastern Washington in the NCAA FCS semi-finals on Saturday afternoon.

The group of eight Tigers who received their degrees included tackles Eric Pike (DuVal H.S./Landover, Md.) andRandall Harris (DuVal H.S./Lanham, Md.), guard Anthony Davis (Clover Hill H.S./Richmond, Va.) and centerDoug Shaw (Loyola Blakefield H.S./Woodbine, Md.). Linebacker Eric Schuster (Reservoir H.S./Laurel, Md.), defensive tackle Arnold Farmer (Baltimore Poly H.S./Baltimore, Md.), running back Sterlin Phifer (Landstown H.S./Virginia Beach, Va.) and cornerback Ryan Mays (Franklin H.S./Reisterstown, Md.) also graduated.

The eight graduates received their diplomas from University President Maravene Loeschke before a crowd that included friends and family members as well as their teammates.
