TIGERS CONTINUE ROAD SWING AT VERMONT WEDNESDAY

Towson Men’s Basketball Plays Eighth Straight Game Away From Home Against Vermont, a 2012 NCAA Tournament Team

BURLINGTON, Vt. - The Towson University men’s basketball team will play its eighth straight game away from home on Wednesday evening as the Tigers travel to 2012 NCAA Tournament participant Vermont.

The game, set to tip at 7 p.m., can be heard live on the Towson Sports Network with Spiro Morekas and Damon Lewis calling the action.

The Tigers (3-4) have dropped consecutive games for the first time this season after falling at UMBC, 66-62, on Saturday.

Junior forward Jerrelle Benimon posted his third double-double in five games against the Retrievers with 13 points and a career-high tying 16 rebounds.

Benimon ranks second in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) in rebounds per game (9.9) and he’s Top 30 in the nation in both rebounding and double-doubles.

Vermont (4-2) saw its three-game winning streak snapped on Saturday as the Catamounts fell, 76-66, at Rhode Island. Junior guard Sandro Carissimo leads the team in scoring with 11.8 points per game.

Vermont is the defending America East Champions as the Catamounts advanced to the 2012 NCAA Tournament. Once there, they defeated Lamar in the first round before falling to the University of North Carolina in the second round.

Towson fell at home to Vermont last season, 65-49. The Catamounts lead the all-time series 9-8.
