BENIMON NAMED CAA MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Senior forward averaged 24 points, 12 rebounds and five assists in Towson’s 2-0 week
RICHMOND Va. – Towson University senior forward Jerrelle Benimon was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, it was announced by the league on Monday.
Benimon averaged 24.0 points, 12.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists in leading Towson to CAA road victories at Drexel (80-68) and College of Charleston (72-57) last week. He contributed team-highs of 27 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists at DU and followed with 21 points and 11 boards at CofC.
Benimon, who shot 55 percent from the floor for the week, has recorded double-doubles in nine straight contests and has topped the 20-point mark in six consecutive games.
Towson (12-6, 3-0 CAA) returns to SECU Arena on Wednesday to face Northeastern at 7 p.m. The Tigers have won 13 straight home games, the 12th longest current home court winning streak in the country.
