Towson F Benimon picks up NABC All-District honor

Senior forward averages 18.9 points and 11.5 rebounds per game

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Towson University men’s basketball senior forward Jerrelle Benimon was named first team National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District 10, the organization announced on Wednesday.

Benimon, a two-time Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Year and 2013 Honorable Mention Associated Press All-American, also earned first team NABC honors last season.

Benimon has led Towson to a Division I school record 23 wins this season and a second-place regular season finish in the CAA.

The senior leads the Tigers in scoring (18.9 ppg), rebounding (11.5 rpg), assists (3.6 apg) and blocked shots (1.2 bpg). He also tops Division I with 21 double-doubles and his rebounding average ranks third in the country. Benimon’s 378 rebounds this season is a Division I school record at Towson and ties him with Navy’s David Robinson for the second-most rebounds in a season in CAA history.

Benimon was joined on the NABC All-District first team by Devon Saddler and Davon Usher of Delaware,Frantz Massenat of Drexel and Marcus Thornton of William & Mary. The second team consisted of Scott Eatherton of Northeastern, Chris Fouch of Drexel, Zeke Upshaw of Hofstra, Willis Hall of College of Charleston and Andre Nation of James Madison.
