Towson Hoops Picked to Finish 12th in CAA

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Colonial Athletic Association held its annual men’s and women’s basketball media day on Tuesday at Champps-Pentagon Row in Arlington, Va. The gathering of the league’s head coaches and media members also saw the release of the CAA Preseason Polls.

Both Coach Pat Skerry of the men’s basketball team and Coach Joe Mathews of the women’s basketball team conducted numerous interviews with the media in attendance.

On the men’s side, Drexel was picked to finish first in the voting by the league’s coaches. George Mason and Virginia Commonwealth rounded out the top three. The Tigers were picked to finish 12th in the league.

The women’s side saw Delaware, who returns all five starters picked to finish first. VCU and James Madison rounded out the top three selections. The Tigers, who return three starters from a year ago, were picked to finish 11th.

The Tiger men will open the 2011-12 season on Friday, Nov. 11 at Kansas while the Tiger women’s team opens its season on Saturday, Nov. 12 at Western Kentucky.

Note: Delaware G Devon Saddler (Aberdeen) was named to the preseason All-CAA second team.
