Towson RB Victor receives preseason recognition from CFPA

TOWSON, Md. — Darius Victor of the Towson football team earned a spot on the 2014 CFPA Running Back Award list, it was announced today by College Football Performance Awards.

“Congratulations to Darius on earning a spot on this year’s watch list,” said CFPA Executive Director Brad Smith. “Victor produced a number of strong performances in 2013.”

Victor rushed for 643 yards on just 98 carries as a freshman in 2013 for a 6.4 yards per carry average. He finished his rookie campaign with eight total touchdowns, including seven on the ground.

The goal of College Football Performance Awards is to provide the most scientifically rigorous conferments in college football. Recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams. Twenty-eight CFPA winners have been first-round NFL Draft selections.

Former Towson great Terrance West was a two-time winner of the CFPA Running Back Award.

The full list of 2014 CFPA winners will be announced January 14, 2015.
