Towson visits Murray State in CIT quarterfinals Thursday

TOWSON’S POSTSEASON RIDE CONTINUES AT MURRAY STATE ON THURSDAY
Tigers and Racers battle for spot in CIT Final Four at 8 p.m.

MURRAY, Ky. – The Towson men’s basketball team will play at Murray State on Thursday at 8 p.m. in the quarterfinals of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament.

The game can be heard live on the Towson Sports Network (TSN) with Spiro Morekas and Damon Lewis calling the action.

Towson (25-10) earned its spot in the Elite 8 of the CIT by knocking off USC Upstate (63-60) in the first round and East Tennessee State (83-77) in the second round.

Both wins came on the road, where the Tigers are 9-7 this year.

Murray State (20-11) has been near unbeatable at home, posting a 14-1 record inside the CFSB Center. The Racers opened CIT play with a 66-63 win at Missouri State before topping Omaha, 86-62, at home on Monday.

Sophomore Four McGlynn has been the star of the Tigers this postseason, hitting the game-winning shot against USC Upstate and scoring a season-high 23 points in the win over East Tennessee State. The guard is shooting 9-for-14 (64.3%) from beyond the arc in Towson’s CIT wins.

Murray State is led by freshman guard Cameron Payne, who averages 16.2 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. The Racers average 77.4 points per game while shooting 47.3 percent from the field.

The winner of Thursday’s game will advance to the Final Four of the CIT. That game will be played on April 1 with the matchups, locations and start times to be announced after all quarterfinal games have been completed.
