TOWSON, Md. — Towson football standout Spencer Wilkins earned a spot on the 2014 CFPA Wide Receiver Award list, it was announced today by College Football Performance Awards.

Wilkins was Towson’s second-leading wide receiver in 2013, hauling in 40 passes for a team-best 691 yards. He was also tied for the team lead with four receiving touchdowns and averaged 17.3 yards per catch.

“Congratulations to Spencer on earning a spot on this year’s watch list,” said CFPA Executive Director Brad Smith. “Wilkins will be one of the top CAA Football players to watch in 2014.”

Wilkins is the second Tiger to be recognized by the CFPA this offseason. Sophomore Darius Victor was named to the running back award watch list earlier this month. Former Tiger standout Terrance West was a two-time winner of the CFPA Running Back Award.

The goal of College Football Performance Awards is to provide the most scientifically rigorous conferments in college football. Recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams. Twenty-eight CFPA winners have been first-round NFL Draft selections.

The full list of 2014 CFPA winners will be announced January 14, 2015.
