Gilliam Scores 21, But Defense Just Can’t Get It Together As UMBC Men’s Basketball Falls To Albany, 76-69

January 17, 2010 |

In a close game which neither team could put the other away, the UMBC men’s basketball team once again could not help themselves out with a good defensive effort as they fell to Albany, 76-69.

After going into the half with a 40-34 lead, the UMBC men’s basketball team was held to just one field goal in the first 10 minutes of the second half while Albany scored the first 10 points after the break.

UMBC’s sophomore swingman Chauncey Gilliam made three three-pointers in a 21 point effort while Robbie Jackson added 10 points off the bench, but their efforts were not enough as four Albany players scored at least 12 points while the team shot 50% from the field.
