Senior Adrian Satchell (Windsor, Conn./Windsor) and junior Chase Plummer (Plainfield, N.J./St. Patrick) have been named co-captains of the 2012-13 UMBC men’s basketball squad, head coach Randy Monroe announced today.
“Adrian Satchell and Chase Plummer will do a phenomenal job for us as leaders on and off the court,” Monroe said. “They come from outstanding families, possess a great deal of pride and are true representatives of our university.”
A three-year letterwinner, Satchell has competed in 79 games and started 61 during his tenure. He has averaged 5.4 points per game and 4.2 rebounds per contest in that span. The 6’5” forward was named to the 2009-10 America East Conference All-Rookie Team, becoming just the second Retriever to earn that honor.
Plummer will reprise the captain’s role that he shared with 2012 graduate Jake Wasco last season. A 2011-12 America East Second Team selection, Plummer finished fourth in America East in scoring (15.4), fifth in rebounding (7.5) and fifth (tied) in steals (1.4). He was the only player in America East to be ranked in the top five in scoring and rebounding in 2011-12. The 6’6” forward became just the fourth sophomore in school history to score 400 points in a season and his 446 points was one shy of a school sophomore record.
