UMBC (3-9) returns to the court and will play its first home game in four weeks when they host the Navy Midshipmen (5-5) on Monday, Dec. 30. Navy defeated UMBC, 73-58, in Annapolis on Nov. 23. Tip-off time is set for 7:00 p.m. Live streaming is available at

RETRIEVER UPDATE: UMBC has dropped four straight, all on the road, since opening December with a victory over UMES at the RAC Arena. The Retrievers are 3-1 at home this season. In its last outing, UMBC dropped a 74-61 decision at nationally-ranked GW on Dec. 21. SR F Brett Roseboro led the way with 13 points and FR G Rodney Elliott scored in doubles for the fifth consecutive game with 10 points. But 21 turnovers derailed UMBC’s chance to spring the upset.

MIDSHIPMEN UPDATE: JR G Brandon Venturini scored a season-high 20 points but the Navy men’s basketball team let a double-digit lead slip away in falling to Northern Kentucky (4-7), 72-65, at The Bank of Kentucky Center on Dec. 21. Venturini’s 20 points came on 7-of-11 shooting and JR F Worth Smith added 15 points. SO G Tilman Dunbar leads USNA with 11.9 ppg and 5.0 assists per game, while Smith is at  11.6 points per outing. After a 4-1 stretch, the Mids have dropped two straight and are 1-5 on the road this season.

WHO’S UP NEXT: UMBC opens its 11th season of America East Conference play on Sunday, Jan. 5 when the Retrievers travel to new league member UMass Lowell for an afternoon affair.
