UMBC looks for 3-1 start Wednesday against Loyola

UMBC continues its non-conference slate vs. local foes when the Retrievers host Loyola at the RAC Arena on Nov. 20. Tip-off time is set for 7:30 p.m. The game can be seen on and MASN-TV in the mid-Atlantic region.

RETRIEVER UPDATE: The Retrievers wiped out a school-record 23-point deficit and rallied to defeat visiting Mount St. Mary’s, 90-84, in overtime at the RAC Arena on Sunday. UMBC (2-2) played in overtime for the third consecutive contest, also a school first. America East Rookie of the Week Rodney Elliott scored a team season-best 26 points, including 24 after hallfime, leading five players in double figures.

GREYHOUND UPDATE: Loyola is off to a 3-0 start, winning all three contests by seven points or less. The Greyhounds opened the season with a 79-74 victory at America East rival Binghamton, edged Cornell, 93-89, in overtime and won its home opener, 59-52, over Fairfield on Nov. 16. Senior guard Dylan Cormier is averaging a colossal 28.3 points per game, hitting 28 free throws in the first three outings. He is also the Hounds’ leading rebounder at 7.3 per game, including 15 off the offensive glass. Loyola has converted 68 free throws compared to 33 by its foes.

WHO’S UP NEXT: The Retrievers continue its tour through the local scene, as the Retrievers play the first of a home-and-home series at Navy on Saturday, Nov. 23 (7:00 p.m.).
