UMBC Women’s Basketball Doesn’t Have The Offense To Take Down Vermont

February 21, 2010 |

Sophomore guard Michelle Kurowski and senior guard Carlee Cassidy each made three three’s and scored 17 and 11 points, respectively, against Vermont, but the rest of the offense could not get going as they only managed to hit half a century in a 67-50 loss to Vermont.

Four Catamounts scored in double figures, led by Courtnay Pilypaitis’ 17 points and 10 assist effort.

UMBC went into halftime down by seven points but cut the Vermont lead to just one points with 6:35 left. But that would be the end of UMBC as they made just three more baskets and Vermont went on a 26-7 run to close out the game.

In that span UMBC turned the ball over five times, causing coach Phil Stern to receiver his first technical foul of the season.

UMBC was out shot 45.3% to 39.5% but managed to out-rebound the Catamounts 30-29.
