Game #2 Rock the Red Caps/Habs Chat Room 4/16

April 17, 2010 |

Tonight the Washington Capitals try to avenge Thursday night’s home loss in Game #1 to the Montreal Canadiens.  The Canadiens did the impossible and kept the reigning back to back Hart Trophy award winner, Alexander Ovechkin to zero shots on goal in a game that needed overtime to be decided.  Missed opportunities, blown coverages on defense, and to many penalties taken were the glaring reasons for the Caps loss.

Tonight it looks like veteran Brendan Morrision will be back centering the 2nd line, moving Thomas Fleischmann back to the 3rd line.  Goaltender Jose Theodore played well enough to get another start in net tonight for Caps who should be desperate to even the series with the Habs before they have to go to Montreal and play at the NHL’s loudest arena.

The Canadiens held Ovechkin to zero shots and frustrated him throughout the game.  I don’t expect Ovie to be held down in back to back games. Take a look at one of Ovie’s most jaw dropping goal scoring plays from last year against Montreal.
