If I can do it…

Before I get to the results tonight I want to officially welcome Maryland Orthotics and Prosthetics in as a sponsor of the show and my blog. I am looking forward to working with them and getting the word out about the best Orthotics and Prosthetics office in the Country.

The Charm City Electric squad lost both games to the Under Armour squad tonight. We dropped the first game 18-7 and lost game two 14-13 when we blew a 13-11 lead in the seventh inning. I just can’t seem to put both aspects of my game together. I bounced back from last week’s poor performance at the plate. I was 4-5 tonight with a sacrifice fly and drove in four runs tonight. Unfortunately I had poor command pitching and although our team struggled in the field I didn’t help matters by walking seven batters in the two games. I was all over the place and at times was  just trying to get the ball over the plate. We played a good team tonight that had a great batting eye.

Game one was a tight game headed into the bottom of the 4th inning. Charm City Electric was trailing by a run and in the middle of a rally when I made a huge mistake coaching third. I sent the runner on a line drive to base-hit to left and he was gunned down at the plate to end the inning. I was trying to be aggressive but in hindsight should have not sent him and it was really costly. Not only did it cost us the tying run, it killed the rally. They made us pay next inning when they scored eight runs to build a 15-6 lead. We rallied but scored just one run in the fifth inning and they put us away in the sixth. It’s remarkable how one single play can change the momentum of a game. I think I have straightened out my swing. I grounded into a fielders choice my first time up but after that lashed a solid single to left and then hit a shot into right field.

Game two started great for Charm City Electric as we built a 6-0 first inning lead. I continued my hot hitting with an RBI single to right. I really settled down in game two on the mound. I made some good pitches in the first couple of innings and Charm City Electric built a 9-2 lead after three innings. They battled back to cut lead to 9-6. We would eventually take a 12-9 lead into the sixth inning. That’s when I made another bad decision. Our leadoff man tripled and I was up with a runner on third and no one out. My philosophy was to drive the ball into the outfield to ensure us a four-run lead. I was able to hit the Sac fly and gave us a 13-9 lead but that would be the last run we score on the night. I should have tried to get on instead to keep the inning going. I wiggled out of the sixth after giving up two runs but that set up the fateful last inning. We were leading 13-11 headed to the bottom of the seventh. They got a solid single to start the inning and a well placed ball down the third base line gave them runners on first and second with no one out. I induced a ground ball to our second baseman Bryan Hindle. He bobbled and instead of getting an out they loaded the bases with no one out. A single brought them within a run. A sacrifice fly and a base hit later it was a tie game with the bases loaded and one out. That brought their best hitter to the plate (I believe he is a former minor league baseball player) and he laced a long fly ball to left for the go ahead sacrifice fly for the victory. It was a tough way to lose to a good team. Hopefully I will be able to put both aspects of my game togther next week. Rememer If I can do it, you  can do it too. Until next time…

    Really Hindle? Really? LMAO!

Hindle never had the makings of a varsity athlete. He makes Reynolds look like Brooks.
