WNST is proud to announce that beginning Monday, April 9th at 10 a.m. we’ll have a new mid-morning show to add to our AM 1570 radio airwaves. Longtime Baltimore sports talk lightning rod and football expert Damon “The Bulldog” Yaffe will begin hosting a two-hour daily program with help from longtime friends Paul Mittermeier and Greg Marsh.
Heard from 10 a.m til noon each weekday, Yaffe’s crew will focus on all Baltimore sports with fun conversation, guests and lots of banter about the state of the local sporting universe including the Orioles, Ravens, Terps and local lacrosse.
Thryl Nelson will continue to host a two-hour version of “The Mobtown Sports Beat” from noon til 2 p.m. while he’ll also focus on some special projects and sales at WNST.net and AM 1570.
Please welcome our new WNST family members and make them feel at home back on the radio in Baltimore.

Nice move here Nestor….The bulldog needs more then 2 hours though. Your guy on the midday is JV talent at best….he is actually hard to listen to and not really radio talent. I hope he has a great sales career with WNST and gets off the air. You are a guy that knows talent and this guy is nothing more than a gap filler….you should play polka music instead. Cant wait for the bulldog!!!!!

Interesting, good move for him since he was unemployed , but when he was on the FM side of the dial you guys bashed him all over the place.Welcome Bulldog !!!

Ouch. Really?
Remember the glory days when guys like Spiro and The Swami, Mark Mussina, Bob Haynie, and Nestor (actually on-air) filled the day? I used to laugh at the talent on other local outlets. Swapping talent with inferior organizations isn’t the best move to stay on top.
You don’t see the Yankees releasing Teixeira and Sabathia, then filling their spots with Vlad and Tillman, and pretending it’s somehow a good thing…

ehh… I stopped listening to 1057 bc of bulldog. the guy is a d-bag.
April 2nd, 2012 at 1:01 pm
You really have no loyality do you?
April 2nd, 2012 at 1:32 pm
Thryl knows a lot about sports but he is painful to listen to by himself. I don’t love bulldog but I could not listen to Thryl fill time by adding countless adjectives and adverbs anymore.

Hoping, wishing, praying this is an April Fool’s joke. If so, it’s a good one.
April 2nd, 2012 at 1:49 pm
Dude, you sucked on 105.7, can’t imagine you being any more tolerable now.
April 2nd, 2012 at 1:56 pm
ETA, it’s funny. For a station that is so against Orioles offseason moves you did the same damn thing.
Swaped one poor host for another one. Why change if you can’t improve the quality?
April 2nd, 2012 at 2:39 pm
Business wise it might a good move if this guy brings sponsorship dollars. Personally I think the guy stinks. Viviano carried him and I guess Mittermeier will be carrying him on 1570. Sad that this is happening but in the end business is business.

I don’t listen to Thyrl for more than a couple minutes at a time, but..
> I stopped listening to 1057 bc of bulldog. the guy is a d-bag.
I stopped listening to another *station*, like Dan, because it featured this disrespectful clown and others like him.
I’ve been listening to Nestor’s stations, and defending them on the internet, for a long time but this is a really bad sign. Really bad. I’d rather have Thyrl, who I can blandly ignore, than Yaffe, who makes me want to spit nails.
Please oh please oh please be an April Fool’s joke…
April 2nd, 2012 at 5:46 pm
I happen to think Thyrl is good. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but when it comes to Spiro and Swam glory days are the last thing that come to mind. Nestor is lucky his station even survived those two
April 2nd, 2012 at 8:32 pm
Damon Yaffe? Really?? Is Nestor actually trying to drive listeners away? If he is, he cerainly couldn’t have done a better job of it than by hiring this unlistenable blow-hard.

I think bulldong should replace glenn. His interviews are brutal. They are more awkard then Drew sipping a glass of wine witb Ed Reed. i agree, bad move on wnst part. Bulldong is more annoying then glenn unis who has a real mom complex.

This guy left a lot to be desired on the fan. He was boring and I can’t see him being better here, but hey that’s just my opinion.

You’re kidding , Right ?
April 3rd, 2012 at 6:53 am
You got 10x more responses to this than your Free the Birds “rally”. Hilarious. Looking back, this week will not be a good one for NST. Oh man, good stuff.
April 3rd, 2012 at 8:16 am
Welcome to WNST guys. Its all good you know!
April 3rd, 2012 at 8:25 am
You have GOT to be kidding, Nestor! The biggest Steeler apologist in the Bmore area, and you hire him – shame on you! Well, here’s one less listener to your station. Enjoy your Bird fest coming up…
April 3rd, 2012 at 10:37 am
If it matters, I’ll be listening on Monday. So, mission accomplished. I just don’t understand the Bulldog name. Is this a tuff guy behind the microphone? Seems like every sports radio market has a bulldog or two. Will he be doing blogs? Is he going to snap out at every listener? Is that what we need these days?
April 4th, 2012 at 12:02 am
Nestor, Bulldog is an embarrassment to your station….you had a number of primo broadcasters who you let go, and then you hire a ‘closet Steeler’s’ fan is an embarrassment to all who support Ravens football – shame on you!!
September 9th, 2012 at 8:30 pm
Love your comments and perspective. A great addition to the station.
September 23rd, 2012 at 12:22 pm
I am a 105.7 listener and really enjoyed the Viviano and Bulldog show. If anything, I wish you guys would have taken Vinny Cerrato and Steve Davis and left us Bulldog…
