UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen Prediction

It’s time! The big rematch we’ve all been waiting for. Trash talk on both sides. The challenger’s constantly at  the champion’s throat.  Undefeated in the UFC and Middleweight Champion Anderson “The Spider” Silva, takes on Chael Sonnen tonight for the Middleweight title and all the bragging rights in the world.

Their last fight was a blood bath at UFC 117 in August of 2010. Going into the fifth and final round, Sonnen was beating down Silva and swept every round on the judges’ scorecards to that point. However, with a little over three minutes left, Silva caught Sonnen in a triangle choke, forcing him to tap out.

Leading into the fight, similar to this one at UFC 148, Sonnen was running his mouth saying that he was going to make Anderson Silva retire. While that didn’t exactly happen, the beatdown he put on him would’ve ended lesser fighters’ careers.

It will be interesting to see if Sonnen can lay the same smackdown as his did on Silva this time around as Silva is not only frustrated with all the trash talk, but he wants to remind people why he is undefeated and the greatest fighter in the UFC today.

Tale of the Tape:

Anderson Silva:

Chael Sonnen:

Prediction: Sonnen doesn’t finish guys very often, while Silva finds any way possible to. Silva is one of the most versatile and creative fighters ever to step foot into the octagon in that he always finds a way to finish somebody off. He uses punches, knees, kicks, submissions, even defensive maneuvers as part of his offensive attack. I think Silva will be out for blood this time around because generally when a lot of trash talk comes his way, Silva tends to silence the naysayers and put his opponent to sleep. If Sonnen makes it out of the second round, I’ll be shocked.

Silva wins via submission in 2nd round.
