Chris's Bio
Growing up on Baltimore's southwest side, Chris developed a love of the city's sports teams, thanks to John Steadman's writing and Chuck Thompson's voice. Those influences led the Mt. St. Joe and Loyola College grad to a sports media relations and new media career. He worked in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints (2000-05) as the club's Manager of Media & PR, and later, Director of New Media, and with the Atlanta Falcons (2006) as New Media Producer. Prior to the NFL, he worked on the sports information staffs at UAB, George Washington and Loyola. In between a pair of stints at UAB, he was the Class-AA Birmingham Barons' Director of Media Relations, including the 1994 season when hoops star Michael Jordan played for the club. A veteran of media relations work at major sports events, he has been part of the NFL's staff at eight Super Bowls and assisted at other events including the BCS National Championship Game, NCAA Men’s and Women's Final Four, MLB All-Star Game and the Goodwill Games. He brings his insight on the NFL's inner workings as an analyst each week on WNST and through his "Blog And Tackle" on WNST.net.

Many Ravens fans are of the opinion that the officials are targeting the Ravens, either for reputation, or for earlier comments after the New England game that went unpunished by the NFL league office. Now, based on my time in the league, I believe that NFL offiicials are the best in the four major sports. How ... Read More »
It’s appropriate that fifty seasons after the “Greatest Game,” the Ravens beat Tennessee in the “Toughest Game Ever Played” in NFL playoff history to advance to the AFC Championship Game next Sunday. The bodies were stacked up like cordwood on both sidelines, the temperature was dropping along with the rain, and Baltimore imposed its collective will ... Read More »
Seven points on the first half between the Ravens and the Titans, since we have a 7-7 tie: 1. The slugfest turned personal in the first half as both teams have seen field position impacted by 13 combined accepted penalties for 104 yards. Luckily for the Ravens, only four have gone against them for 25 yards. ... Read More »
Last week, I went 2-2 on my Wild Card picks, so I will try to better myself this weekend. Here is my look at the Saturday set of games. Baltimore at Tennessee: This is going to be an old-school heavyweight slugfest between a pair of defenses that live to hit hard. Weather could be a factor ... Read More »
The loss to the Steelers on Sunday was tough for the Ravens and their fans to take, especially in light of the replay-contested touchdown in the final minute. But in the NFL, teams must forget the game just played and focus on the one coming up. Fans can look at the replay of the “touchdown” catch ... Read More »
At the urging of Nestor Aparicio, I have gone back in time when I would regularly bother the Elias Sports Bureau in New York for help in determining the scenarios in which the team I was working for (New Orleans, Atlanta) at the time needed to make the playoffs. Yes, I know, “What’s Important Now” is ... Read More »
Fresh off a bounce-back victory over Philadelphia that gave John Harbaugh a win over his former employer, the 7-4 Ravens see that not much has changed in the race for the AFC playoffs. Pittsburgh is still one game ahead in the AFC North standings. Indianapolis has used a four-game win streak, and a last-second victory at ... Read More »
We’ll get a better idea about this over the next couple of weeks, but the 6-4 Ravens seem to be playing to a form that says they are good enough to beat the bottom half of the league, but not good enough to beat the best clubs just yet. Victories over 1-8-1 Cincinnati, 4-6 Cleveland (twice), ... Read More »
An interesting Week 11 is almost in the books, outside of a Buffalo-Cleveland game tonight that Bills need to win to join a pack of five other teams with a 6-4 record in the tightly jammed AFC. The Ravens had a chance to get their first impressive victory over a definite playoff-bound team but were exposed ... Read More »
