» Drew's Bio

The host of WNST's "Morning Reaction" from 6am-10am, Mon-Fri, Drew likes the show's name because it fits the style he desires. "Radio Today called it 'the greatest name for a morning radio show in the history of radio' and even though I think that's a bit strong, I agree...it's a great name for a sports talk show," says Forrester. "We all watch sports, we follow the games and we wonder why that happened or why the manager or coach did what he did...and then we react to it the next day. That's what we do at WNST. We react to what we see." Forrester also contributes daily (or in between the 9th hole and the 10th hole) to WNST.net and enjoys the ever-growing popularity of the station's web-site. "On a scale of 1-to-10, in terms of popularity, I think I'm about a 3.5," says Drew. "But WNST.net is a 10. Kinda reminds me of Bo Derek, without the crow's feet."

It looks like Drew and Adam Jones both “get it”…

I can’t believe I forgot to post this.  Holy cow.

For years, I ranted and raved about the insane (yearly) decision by the Orioles to not put BALTIMORE on the front of the road jersey.

Frankly, it’s a major reason why the team has expurgated me.  I’m persona non grata with them and it’s mostly over the fact that I - according to one staffer over there - “wouldn’t let it go and beat it into the ground.”

Fair enough.  I did do that.

But I was right.

I knew I was right back then.  I knew I was right last December when they finally caved in and did the right thing and now that I’ve heard Adam Jones, I know once again I was right.

A lot of people who knew I was right but didn’t want to admit it used this logic:  ”What’s putting BALTIMORE on the road jersey going to do, make the players play harder?  Make them win more games?  Of course not.”

Really?  Well, here’s a link you’d like to see.  It’s Adam Jones, talking about wearing BALTIMORE on the road jersey and how it definitely means *something* to him…and the difference between wearing a jersey with “Orioles” across the front and wearing a jersey with his “new hometown” across the front.  He gets it.  He understands if it’s important to the fans, it should be important to the players.  Because, as Adam evidently digests, the fans pay his salary.

I like Adam Jones a little more today than I did yesterday.  A lot more, in fact.

Oh, by the way, Greg…and Andy…and John:  You’re welcome.

Of course there’s a certain amount of pride in representing a city and, you’re right, Adam Jones “gets it” and you’ve known it for some time! Frankly, as a native Baltimorean, I’m glad you never let it go because it was a huge “black eye” for this organization for many years. So, kudos to Jones for acknowledging it and to you for the role you played in making it happen! Now, when do I get my jacket and ring………

  2. Cheese Puff Says:

funny how you try and take credit for something that you just jumped on the band wagon. you wouldn’t even have a job if you didn’t beat up the orioles every day, just ask those who came before you. (DF: Funny how you have no idea what you’re talking about. As Dave Matthews would say: “Funny the way it is…”)

  3. Mike Says:

Just on the topic of Adam Jones, why didn’t he get the All-Star MVP? Crawford had a “great catch” by only reaching up to 8 feet 3 inches, but didn’t Adam drive in the winning run?

Drew- I think you said that you didn’t watch the game, but it was still a good O’s, oops. BALTIMORE moment.

  4. Rob Says:

This is very funny Drew, where do you do stand up? I stopped reading and listening months ago because it was the same….bash the O’s, promote a trip, bash the O’s, I am responsible for Baltimore on the O’s uniform, bash the O’s, support the Ravnes, bash the O’s…..so I stop by today to read here is the same **** as a few months ago…it was like I never stopped reading or listening. Bash the O’s, support the Ravens, bash the O’s, promote a trip, I am responsible for Baltimore on the O’s uniform! And the beat goes on….I check back in a couple months for the same update. (DF: Nah, I think you’re better off NOT checking back. We’ll both appreciate one another more that way.)

Baltimore on the road jerseys, Markakis and Jones section, all you can eat area etc– all these are great ideas. Now if they would only saturate all the media with what they are doing it might work for them. No matter how good the young guys end up being we may still be looking at third place most years in this division. Tampa took 15 years to get good and they still might not make the playoffs again for a while. They have to figure out a way to draw fans whether they make the playoffs or not. There are thousands of fans that don’t listen to the flagship. They just need reach out to them where they are. (DF: From your lips to God’s ears. Be careful though. You might lose your media credential if you speak out against them too much.)

  6. Patpat Says:

Funny how you sound like a complete d***** when you refer to yourelf in the 3rd person. Plus you way overuse quotes. (DF: It’s always good to be “appreciated”. Thanks for “checking in”.)

I wish the O’s would embrace WNST instead of sending their employees on your blog to try and take you down. They still don’t get it. There are so many of us that are loyal WNST fans, that are Oriole fans as well, or at least try to be. We grew up going to 20 games a year. You give the O’s credit when credit is due, and call them out when they fall short. Look, I battle with my old college friends (Phil’s/Buc fans) and out of town folks all the time. 1979 was the best time I believe to be an O’s fan. That team was amazing. And I had to put up with the Pirate fans who came out of the wood work when the Bucs came back from a 3-1 deficit. Baltimore on the jerseys is important to me. I went to a game earlier this year and took three others to the club level and watched with 3,000 others that night. I walked around and was impressed by all the history of the past teams on the wall. It made me feel good remembering. I walked in the store to buy my first Oriole jersey. My first in 25 years. But I couldn’t find anything with Baltimore written on it. Maybe it was too soon. For now it is 10 items with Baltimore Ravens written across in my closet, to 0 Orioles.

I do think the organization listens, even to WNST. Keep up the good work. Who know’s, maybe one day they will come back on air so we can get back that good feeling we had in the 60, 70, and 80’s. Thanks for making “wanting to be an O’s fan again” possible.
