After Friday night’s contest in Sunrise, won by Washington, 4-1, the depleted Caps without Alexander Ovechkin, Mike Green, and Jeff Schultz took on the Florida Panthers in a rematch at the Verizon Center and after a horrible second period in which they gave up three goals and trailed 3-2, they exploded for five third period tallies to win 7-4. ... The Washington Capitals defeated Florida, 4-1, on Friday night in Sunrise to end the Panthers three game winning streak and more importantly, end the Caps three game winless drought.
