» Glenn's Bio

When Pop-a-Shot basketball becomes an Olympic sport, Glenn Clark will win the gold, silver AND bronze. In the meantime, he's continuing his career as a Baltimore sports media person. We say "person" because he has too many jobs to describe them all right now. You hear him on "The Comcast Morning Show" & talking about the Ravens throughout the day on WNST. You read his columns on WNST.net, and if you're a female you've been awkwardly hit on by him at least once. If not, he says you should give him a call. He's been accused of being the adopted son of Gary Williams, and will fight you if you don't think Roberto Alomar belongs in the Hall of Fame. He prefers lacrosse to baseball, Robert Randolph to Led Zeppelin, Blue Moon to red wine, and Chick-Fil-A to anything.

Friday Morning’s Crabs and Beer

I’m not even a LITTLE surprised by the fact that Josh McDaniels won’t be interviewing for the Ravens gig or any others. Has anyone heard of Eric Mangini? The “Man Genius” is viewed by Bill Bellichick as a snot-nosed kid who is ungrateful for the opportunities afforded him by The “Great Hood-ini“.
From what I’ve been told by former Patriots players, McDaniels‘ promotion to Offensive Coordinator was supposed to be a slap in the face of Eric Mangini. It was supposed to be something along the lines of “You want to walk away from me? I’ll replace you with someone even younger, with FEWER credentials, and with practically no ability to coach. He’ll do just as well!” If that’s the case, the scenario worked.
I’m not sure that Josh McDaniels is even a capable Coach. That might be part of the reason why Bellichick would try to keep him from interviewing elsewhere. Even if he is, do you really think a pale 31-year old could take control of this disastrous locker room?
I don’t like any of the candidates. I actually prefer Mike Tice to any of them. Also, if Steve Biscotti truly believes that the Ravens are still Super Bowl contenders; he should offer draft picks to the Titans for Jeff Fisher. Fisher is the only Coach in the NFL who I believe could win with this roster as is.
Let’s see what everyone else has to say…
Best of Thursday’s WNST Blogs:
Matt Bender says Birds can get better with front-line pitching (Where have I heard this before?)

RAVENS:

The Official Site’s Allen Barrett looks at another Raven headed to Pro Bowl (It’s a cheerleader. The story is about a cheerleader. I’m not telling you not to read it, I’m just saying it’s about a cheerleader. The team is looking for a new head coach, and the only new content on the Site is about a freaking cheerleader.)

The Examiner’s Matt Palmer says Billick doesn’t want to talk yet
The Examiner’s Tony Giro doesn’t want Ryan to be handed job
The Examiner’s Luke Broadwater, Kelsey Volkmann, and Matt Palmer say Sapp counter charges Maese with assault
The Loss Column’s Neal Shaffer somehow thinks he can question Drew F’s Ravens knowledge (Neal-I think you write columns occasionally for PressBox, but since PressBox is the most worthless rag ever published, I have no idea if you’re any good at it. Do you REALLY think you should question Drew’s reporting?)
Ravens Touchdown’s “Stephen” thinks Baltimore better job than Atlanta or Miami
Ravens Gab’s Matt Loede says Cowher would be exciting hire
Blogimore Ravens’ “Dewey” doesn’t think Ravens take QB in 1st Round
Blogimore Ravens’ “Dewey” updates Gerome Sapp arrest story
ORIOLES:
The Sun’s Roch Kubatko says single game tickets on sale Jan. 12 (Catch the fever!)
Oriole Post’s “Maryland Orioles Fan” thinks Loria worse owner than Angelos
Orioles Hangout’s Tony Pente gathers more info on Roberson acquisition
Seattle Post-Intelligencer’s John Hickey says Mariners WON’T trade Morrow for Bedard
TERRAPINS WOMEN’S BASKETBALL:
TERRAPINS BASKETBALL:
The Examiner’s Sean Welsh says Terps living without amenities
Turtle Sports Report’s Jeff Ermann says future Guard Mosley even better now than when he committed (must subscribe)
TERRAPINS FOOTBALL:
MT. ST. MARY’S BASKETBALL:
UMBC BASKETBALL:
LOYOLA BASKETBALL:
MORGAN BASKETBALL:
TOWSON BASKETBALL:
NAVY FOOTBALL:
BLAST:
The Examiner’s Mike Peters says Neto ready to return to action tonight
HORSE RACING:
Washington Post’s John Scheinman says Tracks report wagering decline for ‘07
SOME QUICK THOUGHTS:
-”Ozzie Newsome remains with this organization because Steve Biscotti respects Art Modell. Not because he trusts Ozzie.” This was something I was told by a former Raven who now works in the media. If I disagreed, I’d tell you now.
-Two BIG EVENTS in Baltimore tonight. “Family Night” at Loyola is AWESOME. $1 Tickets, $1 Concessions, ESPNU cameras, and WNST. It gets no better than that. If for SOME reason you can’t make it out, go see the Blast host Tony Meola and New Jersey tonight at the Arena.
-Kudos to Gary for getting rid of the name plates, pictures, etc. I think a certain “General” may have benefited from it most.
Talk to you tomorrow.
-G
