We had an early practice on Thursday and I then headed up to New Jersey to have Thanksgiving with my family. My brothers played in a big local high school football game between the two rival schools in my hometown (my brothers’ team lost, sorry guys!) so football was a major part of my family’s Thanksgiving Day. After turkey and some quality time with everyone at my parents’ house, I drove back to Baltimore on Thursday night.
Practice has been really good this week. I think the guys are all feeling really good about where we’re at and we know we’ve put in ourselves in position to be responsible for our own outcome. I think, as a player, you always want your team to control its own destiny and we pretty much do right now. You can’t ask for more than that. Now, we just need to go out and play good football.
I think the Thanksgiving holiday was a benefit for us too. It gave us all a chance to stop thinking about football for about 8 hours and concentrate on our family and friends. Now, it’s back to work.
Believe me, no one on our team is looking at the Bengals any differently because they have one win and a tie. We’ve watched film on them all week. They’re good! In the NFL, if you don’t take every single team and player seriously, you’re in for a surprise. We respect what they’re capable of and
we’re going to Cincinnati prepared for a fight.
I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. I’ll talk to you all next Tuesday with Drew at 8:30 am and I’ll see you next Sunday night when we host the Redskins! Sunday night football!! Good stuff…

Joe,
Coach lied to us. At the Countdown to kickoff luncheon on the M&T Bank staduim field, Coach Harbaugh sat next to Craig Ziegenhein. I sat next to Craig. We asked Coach if he had any trick plays in the playbook. We named every play under the sun. He responded very confidently that none of those plays would be executed by the Ravens. First game - double reverse - on our list. Every game after that take a play or two off our list.
At this point we, Craig and I, would like to see the last three plays from our list executed before the end of the season (since we were lied to by coach). Those plays are: Hook and ladder, Flee Flicker, and the statue of liberty. Or you can combine them as one play: Statue to halfback - who flee flickers back to you - pass it to Mason with the hook and ladder to Clayton.
We do greatly apperciate the coaching and player performance that has taken place this year. Everyone associated with the Ravens is doing something exciting this year which is a bright spot in Baltimore in these not so great economic times. We, Craig and I, had a great time at the luncheon - meeting coach and his father; and we wish you and all the ravens - happy holidays and continued success.
