Vince's Bio
Former sports public relations/promotions manager with the Baltimore Spirit/Blast, Baltimore Bandits and Maryland Bays, Vince now enjoys watching sports from the cheap seats. He also can usually be found running charity golf and lacrosse tournaments for a local nonprofit. He bleeds purple and black and don't even get him started about Pittsburgh. He enjoys kicking back at local college football and basketball games or he can be seen enjoying baseball games in the summer. Oh yeah, the Yankees and Duke aren't high on his list either. He brings the knowledge of someone who worked in sports combined with the passion of the fan.

If you have watched any of these amazing NBA playoff games, it is apparent that to win you have to have not only stars, but superstars. To win the NBA championships, your superstars must produce when it matters most. This year’s playoffs are the epitome of this statement. Between the play of LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, ... Read More »
In just over two months (July 24) Chelsea FC and AC Milan will play at M&T Bank Stadium in a world class event. Yes, it’s an exhibition match or friendly as they call it in soccer, but for Baltimore and the area it’s huge. These are two of the most storied club teams in the ... Read More »
“Where Amazing Happens” is the NBA’s marketing slogan; the series between Bulls and Celtics has more than lived up to this moniker. Overtimes, buzzer beaters, and incredible individual performances have added up to one of the greatest series in the history of sports. Seeing players step up has made it so much fun to watch. ... In the lexicon of great American coaches, names that come to the top are Vince Lombardi, Casey Stengel, John Wooden, Joe Torre, Phil Jackson and Scotty Bowman. One coach, whose name is often not mentioned but undoubtedly should be, is Herb Brooks. Unlike Drew Forrester, Nestor Aparicio, Ed Frankovic or Keith Melchior, I am not big ... Read More »
I know what you are thinking: the last thing baseball needs is another statistic. It would be like the Yankees adding another free agent. But folks, baseball desperately needs this one to become its bellwether stat. The stat is “quality starts.” Right now it is a loosely held stat referred to more by media ... Read More »
Somebody help me. When or why did it become fashionable to throw back home run balls? The other night I watched the Phillies and the Braves, and Brett Myers did his best impersonation of Tom “Napalm” Niedenfuer. After every shot the Braves hit out of the park, those dopes in the stands threw the ball ... Read More »
Twenty five years ago today, the Colts departed Baltimore in the dead of a snowy night and broke everyone in Charm City’s heart. I remember it well; I was 16 years old and mad as hell when I woke up to find my beloved Colts going to a cow town. It took a long time ... Read More »
Terps basketball fans should take a lesson from the University of Kentucky; the grass is not always greener on the other side. Kentucky couldn’t wait to run Tubby Smith out of town. After all, he only won a National Championship and took the team to the tournament every year–not good enough for the sons of ... Read More »
ESPN around Christmas time always plugs its college football bowl coverage with the tag line “the most wonderful time of the year.” Wrong! The best time of the year is today through Sunday because there is nothing better than March Madness. As I write this, American is taking Villanova to the woodshed. My perfect 8-0 pool ... Last night’s improbable 2-1 win by the Netherlands over the Dominican Republic in a dramatic 11 inning game gave the World Baseball Classic what it needed–a signature moment. A team filled with has beens and never have beens beat the star studded Dominican Republic twice in three days. That’s proof once again that sport is ... Read More »
