Morning though

To say the Orioles lineup is struggling would be the understatement of the year, but look at these numbers:

Brian Roberts 2-22
Melvin Mora 5-22
Nick Markakis 6-22

To me none of them seem to be pressing as much as Brian Roberts is. Brian always seems to be going after the 1st pitch or chasing bad pitches.

Is Gary Sheffield in the Sammy Sosa part of his career?  He just looks absolutely over matched when he is at the plate and not able to get around on pitches like he used to. Sheffield has one of the more violent swings in baseball and when his timing is on he can hit some monster shots in any given ball park.

Last night (not sure how it played out on television) that ball that Craig Monroe hit was a absolute shot out of Camden Yards.  With the way the weather was last night, you were going to have to hit a blast like that for it to get out. Most nights the ball that Kevin Millar hit would have been about 3 rows deep in the left field bleachers, but again the ball was not carrying out of the park last night.

The Royals come into town tonight and much of the hype will be about Alex Gordon, who is being picked to be the next coming of George Brett.

The Orioles need to get their bats going soon or things could get ugly for them quickly.

The crowd last night, albeit small, was very much into the game, cheering until the Craig Monroe ball landed on top of Edgar’s.
