In God’s name, I must ask, “what was Joe Borowski thinking?” Dude, it’s the bottom of the ninth, in Yankee Stadium. The game is on the line; Alex Rodriguez steps to the plate and you have first base open. Why would you EVER allow this guy to beat you?
I’m guessing Joe Borowski didn’t see the Chris Ray/A’Rod matchup under similar circumstances, two short weeks ago. Do we see a pattern developing here? At this point, I don’t see how any pitcher in baseball can allow A’Rod to beat them unless forced to do so.
It’s April 20th and Alex Rodriguez has 10 homeruns. Yeah, that’s 10 dingers in roughly 20 days. Will he keep up this torrid pace? Absolutely, not. But, if anybody on this planet doubts Alex Rodriguez in the best player in this game, rethink your rationale. Hey, it’s only April, but he’s on pace to break a certain single season record ….
How fitting would it be if Barry Bonds breaks the all-time homerun record, and he’s overshadowed by A’Rod’s pursuit of the single season mark? It could happen. A big season by A’Rod could “bail out” Bud Selig in a very BIG way.
A quick reminder to the O’s front office …. Alex Rodriguez is going to be a free agent at the end of the season. Give him what he wants. Making this guy an Oriole would make the team instant contenders and that ballpark would be full every night …. even when the Devil Rays are in town.
