Casey at the bat: THANK YOU MR. ANGELOS(only if it applies

May 11, 2007 | WNST Staff

So I am hoping this will not upset Nestor too much, but I think I have a new appreciation for Peter Angelos.
While searching one of my favorite websites, Pollstar, I came across a concert that struck me with great interest.
All you hard rock fans get that big red pen ready to circle this date on your calendar: June 22, 2007.
That is when hard rock acts Saliva and Black Stone Cherry will be playing at Camden Yards — if you don’t believe me check it out here.
I have no idea what the event is — and the Orioles are out of town that night, so I can not guess what the occasion is — but if Peter signed off on that.
Then, thank you, Mr. Angelos!
I have seen Saliva a couple of times in concert and they put on an awesome show, and Black Stone Cherry’s CD stays in heavy rotation in my car. I actually need to load it in to my ipod.
Ok, back to baseball.
We do a thing here in the press box, among a few of us who sit around one another, where we try to call a home run before it is hit. The rules are: you only get three calls during a game, so you have to use them wisely, and you have to call it when the guy steps in to the batter’s box to start the at-bat.
So after being zero for about 30 this season, I made a great call tonight. My first call of the night was Kevin Millar in the bottom of the 1st inning, and he delivered with a shot into the left field stands.
I may be on a roll now. Just for the record, there is no prize or reward for getting it right, just bragging rights.
My personal best is going 2-for-3 in one night.
If they blow this five run lead, it could get ugly.
One thing I am sure of though is that Daniel Cabrera will speak more words in English than Bedard.
