My Fantasy team has a playoff spot locked up. What advice can you offer me?
To have a Fantasy playoff berth with a week to go (in most leagues, the playoffs start in Week 14) is a sign that you have a solid team. Other than finalizing your bench and maybe adding some quality backup players as insurance, there isn’t a whole lot to do.
But, here are some things you should not do: Do not forget to take a look at the waiver wire this week for potential gems even if you’ll never use them. In fact, if you’re playing a team that uses the waiver wire to find a WR, TE or DST, it might benefit you to take one or two desirable options out of his player pool. If there’s a decent wideout available that could help your opponent(s), it’s better if he rots on your bench than scores points against you. That said, don’t make those moves unless you really have the available roster space.
One more item on your agenda should be to scout the remaining games on the schedule and figure out which players on your team have the best matchups. And if there’s a week when your lesser starters have difficult matchups, hit the waiver wire to find one or two guys you consider replacing him with.
Again, owners who will have more Fantasy fun won’t have to make many changes because their team is so good as it is. After all, they did clinch already.
My Fantasy team has playoff hopes but no spot locked up. What advice can you offer me?
Take the above advice with one other precious nugget: Don’t overthink things. If you’re platooning at one spot, take the guy with the better matchup if he has a good track record to back it up. If you’re unsure, check our player rankings to see who we would advise starting.
Furthermore, if you’ve got a player or two with an injury tag, glue yourself to our site. We know that Week 13 is a very important week, and we will deliver relevant injury information for your Fantasy players this week as soon as we learn about them. Check in with us daily.
Finally, if you’re in a "win and you’re in" situation, not only go over your roster with a fine-toothed comb, but your Week 13 opponent’s roster as well. See what you’re up against, and if there’s anything you can do to combat a potential roster move. To sum up, get yourself in the best position you can to win.
My Fantasy team has no playoff hopes. My season ends after Week 13. What advice can you offer me?
My condolences for not making the playoffs (there’s a few leagues I’m in where I’m not going to make it either). This has been a crazy Fantasy season and I’m sure your best-laid plans went awry early on. However, don’t get angry and don’t get bitter.
Some folks believe that if you’re out of the playoff hunt, you shouldn’t bother making roster moves. I dismiss that belief (and the belief that burgers shouldn’t be eaten with cheese). If you’re playing in a Fantasy game, then you’re playing to win. Why do anything that would jeopardize that goal? Think of it like this: The Dolphins are 0-10, but they’re still making roster moves and trying to win NFL games.
Furthermore, if you’re not going to have the joy of making the playoffs, then maybe you’ll have the joy of costing someone else a playoff spot if you win! And that’s something fun to hold over someone’s head for the next eight months.
I’ll close with this: If you’re in a league with a bitter loser of an owner who is dropping good players, not setting his lineup or sulking like a 12-year-old girl, ask your commissioner to kick him out of the league. Fantasy Football is supposed to be fun, and if someone in your league is disrupting that, he should eat pavement.
Now onto the week that was. CHECK BACK EACH WEEK TO SEE WHAT is going and went on!
TRADE BAIT(s): NONE..if your league still allows trades at this point…change this rule asap…all this does is allows dumping!
STAR(S) OF WEEK (officially renamed the LT of the Week): KOLBY SMITH…if you got him…he may have saved your season! Frank Gore finally had a great game…was it too late for his owners? Kurt Warner almost 500 Yards..wow!
DUD(S) of the Week: Maurice Jones-Drew…Clinton Portis, ALL PANTHERS…
Hot Pick up(s) of the week: Any Denver RB…seriously find out who is on their practice squad…they are dropping like flies…try these guys if desperate…Cecil Sapp – DENVER, Fred Jackson – BUFFALO, Patrick Cobbs – Miami…
TEAM(s) of the WEEK: Don’t look now folks, but um the BEARS are alive…alive I say!
Ut Oh of the week: Arizona Cardinals and New York Giants...both at home…both..UT OH!
