In Support of FRANCHISE …

May 08, 2007 | WNST Interns

I rarely blog twice during the same day. But, I had to relent and offer my support of “Franchise,” a regular contributor to the WNST airwaves. I caught Franchise’s call earlier today, and I wholeheartedly agree with him. Although, Franchise and I support differing teams, he’s absolutely right regarding the Yankees and their recent signing of Roger Clemens.

Mr. Steinbrenner and the Yankees are simply following the rules of the game. They’re spending money, paying the luxury tax, and dotting “every I”, while crossing “every T.” There’s no reason to begrudge a team for simply deciding to dedicate its resources in a chosen direction. The Yankees always devote maximum resources to the on-field product.

Don’t be fooled …. a number of teams could afford the services of Roger Clemens. Although, tolerating his personal demands and family preferences may chase away a few suitors. In the end, the bottom line is the Yankees are built to win, tweaked to win, and expected to win.

There’s nothing wrong with that.
