The Best time of the year for Baseball!

October 18, 2007 | WNST Interns

Today is a special day for me since this is my first attempt at writing a blog. So here it goes:

Here we are in October looking forward to the fall classic with the Rockies in, while the Indians seem to be scalping the Red Sox. Manny being Manny said "if we lose, who cares?" Well, I can tell you, that my clients up in Boston care, the fans who paid for season tickets to Fenway care, the entire Red Sox Nation cares and I am sure Theo Epstein cares!

As a life long O’s fan I don’t care who wins the ALCS but I do love to watch good baseball. Especially since the O’s have deprived me all season long! The O’s played hideous fundamental baseball. Elementary ball in the field and on the base paths all season long with some glimpses of proficiency. Not hitting the cut off man. Not being in the correct go-to position and not running on the bunt! What was that Melvin???

My good friend Mark asked me, "whatever happened to the Oriole Way?" and then he said, "Man these ball players today do not even know what the Oriole Way means!" Well, Mark had a great point…The Oriole Way was back in a day when minor leaguers, collegiates and even the Dominicans all wanted to play for the Orioles! That was because all the way through the organization the Oriole Way was about playing the game the right way! Players never questioned the coach. They just took the ball and played with their guts hanging all over the place…like Schilling did back in 2004 when the Red Sox came back from a 3-1 deficit to go on and when it all!

Watching the Rockies just kickin’ ass all over the field with good old fashion quality execution of the routine play then stepping up and laying out all over the ball field was just like watching vintage 1970 Orioles style of play! If I didn’t know any better I would have thought these Rockies studied those 1970 Orioles… the only post season team in History to win 14 games and go on to win the World Championship! Can’t wait to see what happens to the Indians and the Red Sox… and no matter who shows up, I predict the Rockies are going to take it all! Bring it on!
