Victor Brick of Brick Bodies talks business and mental impact of coronavirus

April 12, 2020 | WNST Audio

Victor Brick has been a longtime partner, friend, and supporter of ours here at WNST and Baltimore Positive. With all gyms ordered to be shut down, clearly this coronavirus pandemic is affecting Victor Brick and his company as much as anyone could imagine.

“I don’t think anyone could have predicted this,” Brick said. “When I got into business, a guy once told me, the way you want to run your business is that you could go out of business at anytime. Unfortunately, I was a non profit business for a long time and wasn’t trying to be, but I eventually got to where I have a pretty good size business and I kind of felt that I don’t have to run my business like I could go out of business anymore…I just have to not do anything stupid and we’re set. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I’d go from the two best months in the 35 year history of my company – Brick Bodies and Planet Fitness Growth Partners – to zero revenue. Zero revenue…in the twinkle of an eye.”

While there are so many negatives that can be taken from this experience, Victor is choosing to use this time in quarantine to better himself.

“The thing that will kill the gap between the known and the unknown is fear, if you let it,” Brick said. “You fill that gap with positive affirmation, with positive thoughts, with a plan, with contacts to your friends and with a regular schedule that maintains some degree of normalcy. Be committed to come out of this quarantine in better physical shape than when you went in…in better mental health than when you went in.”

Victor and Nestor had long, positive and productive chat that we think you’ll great enjoy and benefit listening to. We look forward to chatting with Victor again when businesses are back open and this pandemic is a thing of the past.

“We will come out of this, and we will be stronger than ever,” Brick said.
