Terps women receive No. 3 seed, to host Radford in NCAA opening round

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Maryland women’s basketball team earned a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament Monday night. The Terrapins (28-4) will host Big South champion Radford (26-6), Tennessee (19-12) and UCLA (20-12) in College Park this weekend in the First and Second Rounds.

The Terps will take on Radford Saturday at 11 a.m. at the XFINITY Center, with the Lady Vols and the Bruins playing after. The winners of Saturday’s games will advance to the Second Round Monday. For tickets, call the Terrapin Ticket Office at 1-800-IM-A-TERP or click here.

The Terrapins are in the Albany region.

Maryland advanced to its fifth straight Big Ten Tournament championship game earlier this month. The Terps clinched their ninth straight NCAA Tournament bid and 15th in head coach Brenda Frese’s 17 years at Maryland. Maryland has earned a top four seed 11 times under Frese.

This marks Maryland’s 27th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Terrapins are 45-25 (.643) all-time in the NCAA Tournament and 33-13 (.717) under Frese. She’s led the Terrapins to eight Sweet Sixteens, six Elite Eights, three Final Fours and the 2006 NCAA title.
