COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland forward Bruno Fernando has announced that he will declare for the NBA Draft but has not hired an agent. He has until May 30 to withdraw his name from the NBA Draft and retain his college eligibility.

“Bruno and I have had a number of conversations regarding his decision to explore the NBA Draft,” said head coach Mark Turgeon. “We support him in this decision and will continue to guide him throughout this process. This direct evaluation will help provide Bruno an honest assessment of where he stands among NBA teams. Upon gathering all of the information, Bruno will be able to make the best decision for his future.”

A rising sophomore, Fernando was named to the All-Big Ten freshman team after averaging 10.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game. The Luanda, Angola native was twice named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week. His 6.5 rebounds per game and 57.8% shooting percentage led all Big Ten freshmen, while his 1.2 blocks per game ranked third among all first year players in the conference.
